Custodian

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required:     High School Diploma or GED

Experience Required:   Basic knowledge of cleaning a building, floors, and furniture.

SUPERVISION: Under the direct supervision of the Site Manager/Safe Environments Coordinator

SKILLS NEEDED:

Able to communicate with children and adults from all ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

  • Good writing skills and the ability to write reports (if necessary.
  • Punctual and demonstrate good attendance.
  • Courteous, cooperative, respectful of confidentiality, and professional with children, parents and staff.
  • Dress appropriately for the job, i.e. wear clean clothes, practice good hygiene, and wear footwear that minimizes the possibility of slips and falls.
  • Represent the program in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Good working relationship with community agencies.

 DUTIES:

Daily:

  1. Clean Restrooms – toilet, floors, lavatories
  2. Sweep, mop, vacuum floors
  3. Empty trash twice a day from classrooms
  4. Keep toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap dispenser supplied
  5. Clean outdoors and playground trash before children go out and play
  6. Wipe glass windows and clean off tape
  7. Mop upstairs
  8. Clean upstairs rest rooms
  9. Clean/Vacuum offices, empty trash

Weekly:

10. Wipe walls and doors in the rest rooms

11. Assist with groceries when delivered

12. Change air conditioning filters

13. Place chairs/tables for meetings

14. Shampoo carpets (TBD)

15. Strip and wax floors (TBD)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Most hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 30 Minute lunch break and 2 15 minute breaks per day.

If employee has to leave during break time or lunch, he/she MUST clock in/out. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

OTHER:

Comply with licensing standards. Have a clean criminal background check. Have a biannual tuberculosis test. Actively participate in all required training sessions.

Current first aid/CPR card. Report signs of possible child abuse and neglect.

Have a valid driver’s license.

 This is a non-exempt position.
