Education Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or Related Degree;
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Education;
Experience Required: 3 years of experience in teaching young children, and supervisory experience in mentoring/training adult teaching staff members.
SKILLS NEEDED:
- Knowledge of C.L.A.S.S (Classroom Assessment Scoring System), and Best Practices for early childhood education;
- Research-based coaching/mentor training;
- Effective communication with adults;
- Good writing skills and the ability to write reports as necessary;
- Courteous, cooperative, respectful of confidentiality and professional with children, parents and staff;
- Knowledge of child development norms, the use of developmentally appropriate materials and curriculum, classroom management, assessment, and health and safety practices.
Education Consulting Services will include the following:
- Assurance that teaching staff have skills, knowledge and materials to provide a quality early childhood experience.
- Supervising the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum;
- Provide teaching staff with professional assistance and consultation on a regular basis, individually and in groups;
- Chairing the School Readiness Leadership Team meetings twice a year;
- Monitor student assessments and generate Teaching Strategies Gold outcomes reports three times per year;
- Conduct professional development opportunities for the teaching staff, Policy Council members, GCCAC Board and Parents as needed;
- Develop a Professional Development Plan for all teaching staff members;
- Assist teachers in meeting their Professional Development Goals, acquiring CDAs, Associate and/or Bachelor Degrees.
- Monitor and track the qualifications status of all teaching staff members;
- Orient all new teaching staff members;
- Assist teachers as needed with resources for weekly themes;
- Display professionalism at all times to staff, parents and the public;
- Conduct needs assessment for in-service training, and plan trainings and workshops to meet those needs;
- Periodically visit all centers and classrooms; and
- Other duties as requested by the Director.
